Soil Health
We end each and every sustainable growing season with a heavy blanket of cover crop seeds that germinate and sprout in a blanket of Utah snow. Cover crops have a host of benefits including erosion control, they help control weeds, pests and diseases. They also increase soil quality with living organisms which create a natural fertilizer. In the spring our cover crop brings an abundance of spinach to our tables. Once we have had enough, we cover the remaining cover crop plants with a thick blanket of compost to add nitrogen and nutrients to the soil. Our natural way of growing keeps our plants rich in nutrients and flavors without adding any chemicals. Happy plants grow tasty hemp flower.
Insects
Yes, we have insects! No, we do not use pesticides. Some insects are good for plants and we love them. So, we take a natural approach to insects. We use the bug blaster and hand wash every plant with water only, to ensure that our plants are free of insect eggs. We also hand pick pests from our plants and allow the farm chickens to free range through the cannabis plants.
